Construction

"Skyscrapers, swimming pools, sewers, and schools—establishments in the Construction industry build them all.

This industry covers the construction of new structures, additions and alterations to existing ones, and maintenance and repairs. Additional activities include preparing sites for new construction and subdividing land to sell as building sites.

The industry is divided based on the type of structure being built. Construction of buildings includes residential, commercial, and industrial buildings, while construction of engineering projects deals with projects related to the nation’s infrastructure, such as highways, bridges, sewers, and utility systems.

Establishments in this category are classified as general contractors, specialty trade contractors, or operative builders.
