Many of these services are labor-intensive or require specialized skills, equipment, or training. Some of the services covered in this industry include:

• Drycleaning and laundry services
• Personal care services (hair, skin, and nail care)

The industry also covers organizations that work for and promote a variety of causes. Some of these are faith-based establishments such as worship centers that organize religious activities and services. Membership organizations or associations represent the interests of business, professional, labor, political, or social groups. Other establishments are involved with grantmaking, fundraising, or social advocacy.

People in this industry work in many different kinds of establishments, including garages, salons, places of worship, offices, repair shops, car washes, funeral homes, crematoriums, pet stores, and laundromats.
